A New Dawn for Early Childhood Education in Bury
In a significant move aimed at improving early childhood education, Education Minister Bridget Phillipson has inaugurated the Best Start Hub in Bury. This new family services hub, located in Chesham Fold, is designed to equip parents with essential tools for early learning and language development, ensuring that young children are well-prepared for their educational journey.
Investment in the Future
The establishment of the Best Start Hub is backed by a substantial investment from the Labour government, which has committed taxpayer funding to create similar hubs across the UK. Bury received £137,208 to support the delivery of these vital services within the borough. Both Ms. Phillipson and local MP James Frith express their enthusiasm about this initiative, highlighting its importance in addressing the challenges faced by families in Bury North, where over a third of children are growing up in poverty.
A Vision for Change
During her visit, Ms. Phillipson articulated her vision of ensuring every child in the country receives the best possible start in life. She emphasized, “It’s the driving mission of this government to break the link between a child’s background and what they go on to achieve.” The Best Start Family Hubs are set to lay the groundwork for better life chances and to transform the prospects of future generations.
The initiative draws inspiration from the successful Sure Start program, which had a profound impact on early childhood support. As articulated by Ms. Phillipson, the aim is to build on this legacy, making family support more accessible in the crucial early years of development.
With the launch of the Best Start Hub, Bury is taking a proactive step towards transforming the educational landscape for young children and offering hope to families seeking support and resources. This investment represents not just a financial commitment, but also a broader societal commitment to fostering a nurturing environment for the youngest members of the community.
