A Night to Remember: The Empowering Permission to Dance Prom Returns!
The much-anticipated Second Annual Permission to Dance Prom is set to take place on April 11, 2026, at The Riverhouse in Bend, Oregon. This event has quickly gained popularity, already reaching capacity for attendees. Scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the prom offers a traditional dance experience designed to be both supportive and inclusive.
Celebrating Inclusion through Dance
One of the most uplifting aspects of the Permission to Dance Prom is its commitment to creating an environment where individuals with disabilities can feel accepted and celebrate themselves. Attendees can look forward to a night filled with activities, including a live DJ, an energetic dance floor, appetizers, desserts, and a photo booth to capture lasting memories.
A Community Effort
The success of this free event is made possible through generous donations from individuals, local businesses, and community partners across Central Oregon's three counties. Major sponsors such as The Riverhouse and the Opportunity Foundation of Central Oregon have played a crucial role in making this event accessible for all participants.
Connecting Through Intentional Planning
Robert Tadjiki, the event organizer, emphasizes the need for proactive planning to foster inclusiveness, noting that such opportunities for individuals with disabilities require intentional efforts to create meaningful connections. “Opportunities for individuals with disabilities to truly be themselves and feel accepted in their community don’t just happen—they take intention and effort,” Tadjiki states.
Hope for the Future
The organizers envision this annual celebration not only as a joyous occasion for attendees but as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of including individuals with disabilities in community experiences.
