Alderwood House, a care home in Dumbarton, has proudly received a ‘very good’ rating from inspectors, reflecting the commitment and dedication shown by its remarkable staff. This recognition, awarded by the Care Inspectorate following an unannounced visit in March, showcases the high quality of care provided to residents and emphasizes the nurturing environment cultivated within the home.

The inspectors praised Alderwood House for promoting independence and confidence among its residents. Care home manager Laura McNicol acknowledged the team's hard work and compassion, stating, “This brilliant result is all thanks to the dedication, compassion and magic our team brings to the home.” She also celebrated the residents' achievements, highlighting how their progress is a source of inspiration for everyone involved.
Support for Mental Health and Well-Being
Alderwood House specializes in nursing care for adults living with or recovering from mental disorders. Residents are encouraged to engage in daily living tasks and are supported in discussing their individual progress through their Recovery Stars. The collaborative approach of the staff with external professionals has been key to this success, generating overwhelmingly positive feedback from families and visiting professionals alike.
