Bolton Food and Drink Festival: A Celebration of Culinary Excellence Earns National Recognition

The Bolton Food and Drink Festival, a prominent gastronomic event in Greater Manchester, has once again marked its immense contribution to the culinary scene by securing a prestigious accolade at the NABMA Great British Market Awards 2026. This recognition further cements the festival's status as one of the leading food and drink festivals in the UK.

Two Decades of Success

Having been in operation for over two decades, the Bolton Food and Drink Festival has amassed a loyal following, drawing in impressive crowds that rival major events like Glastonbury. Annually attracting approximately 500,000 visitors, the festival has grown significantly since its inception in 2005, becoming a staple in the community that celebrates local vendors, cuisine, and culture.

Acknowledgment from Industry Leaders

At the recent awards ceremony held in Birmingham, the festival was honored with the Best Large Speciality Market award. David Catterall, Chief Executive of NABMA, commended the event for 'setting a national benchmark for scale, quality, and social value,' highlighting its role in showcasing not only culinary talents but also its impact on the community.

Community and Culinary Collaboration

The festival wouldn’t be possible without the collaboration of dedicated traders, local sponsors, and enthusiastic visitors. Cllr Nadeem Ayub, the Executive Cabinet Member for Culture at Bolton Council, expressed pride in the festival's achievements, stating that it is a highlight for both traders and attendees. The gratitude expressed by the festival organizers on social media reinforces the collective effort that makes this event such a beloved occasion.

Looking Ahead to the Future

As anticipation builds for this year’s edition of the festival, scheduled for August 28 to 31, the community of Bolton is excited to welcome back the array of culinary delights and unique vendors that have made the festival a cornerstone of local culture. This event not only brings together food enthusiasts but also reinforces Bolton’s reputation as a vibrant and welcoming place for acclaimed events.
