Celebrating Black Excellence: The Inspiring Highlights of the BBBAwards 2026
The Black British Business Awards (BBBAwards) has firmly established itself as a leading platform in the UK, celebrating the extraordinary accomplishments of Black professionals and entrepreneurs. Now in its 13th year, the awards shine a light on both established leaders and emerging talents across various industries.
Reflecting a Visionary Future
This year's finalists have been praised by judges as “visionary”, “inspirational”, and “dynamic”, underscoring the increasing influence of Black talent within the British economy. The awards span eight categories, including STEM, Fashion, Arts, Media, and the newly introduced Retail and Hospitality category, each recognizing the expanding contributions of Black professionals across every sector.
Thematic Focus on #SHINE
The theme for this year's event, #SHINE, eloquently encapsulates the brilliance, visibility, and impact of Black professionals in the UK. Dr. Sophie Chandauka MBE, Chair and Executive Founder of the BBBAwards, emphasized the significance of these awards during challenging times for organizations striving to advance Black talent. Her words resonate strongly: "Platforms that visibly celebrate Black leadership and success are more important than ever." This reinforces the need for allies to support and amplify these voices.
A Gala Ceremony of Recognition
The winners and runners-up will be honored at a gala ceremony at London’s Hilton Park Lane on October 9, presented by JPMorganChase. This prestigious event is expected to draw nearly 600 business leaders, entrepreneurs, and industry heavyweight allies, all invested in fostering diversity and inclusion within business practices.
One notable award—Black British Business Person of the Year—will join an esteemed lineage of previous recipients like Yvonne Kunihira-Davidson and Pamela Maynard, further highlighting the impact of these leaders on both their industries and wider society.
Commitment to Inclusion and Excellence
Since its inception in 2014, the BBBAwards has played a crucial role in recognizing outstanding Black talent while advocating for more inclusive workplace cultures. Supported by major sponsors and corporate partners such as Barclays and Goldman Sachs, the awards serve not only to celebrate individual achievements but also to encourage organizations to strive for high-performing, inclusive workplaces across the UK.
As we look forward to this year's ceremony, it is clear that the BBBAwards is more than just an awards ceremony; it stands as a beacon of hope, determination, and a call for action towards a more equitable professional landscape.
