Celebrating Environmental Champions: Nominations Open for New Forest Awards

The New Forest National Park is once again gearing up to honor those individuals and organizations who have made a substantial positive impact on the environment and local communities. Nominations are now open for the New Forest National Park Awards, in its 13th year, celebrating the tireless efforts of participants who contribute to the park’s sustainability and rural economy.

Acknowledging Community Efforts

Organized by the New Forest National Park Authority alongside the Country Land and Business Association (CLA), this initiative highlights the importance of local contributions in preserving the unique landscape of the New Forest. Alison Barnes, Chief Executive of the New Forest National Park Authority, emphasized the significance of these awards: “This is a valuable opportunity to recognise the people whose dedication helps shape and sustain this extraordinary place.”

Various Categories to Celebrate Excellence

This year’s awards span several categories designed to acknowledge efforts in various sectors, including Sustainability Champion, Young Farmer (under 35), Best Supporter of Local Produce, Young Environmental Champion (under 25), Farming and Nature Champion, and Commoning Champion. Nominations are welcome from everyone, encouraging participation from individuals, businesses, and organizations, along with self-nominations.

Join the Celebration

Nominations for these prestigious awards close on May 31, and the winners will be celebrated during a special ceremony at the New Forest and Hampshire County Show. Tim Bamford, regional director of CLA South East, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “The New Forest is unique, and these well-established awards champion the very best across our rural community and economy. We look forward to celebrating with the winners at the show in July.”
