Celebrating Literacy: Ringwood Junior School's Magical World Book Day

On March 5, Ringwood Junior School transformed its halls into a vibrant celebration of literature for World Book Day. Students and staff embraced the occasion, arriving at school dressed as beloved literary characters, showcasing their imagination and love for reading. Characters from Enola Holmes, Harry Potter, and Robin Hood were just a few of the creative costumes that filled the school, creating an atmosphere of excitement and engagement.

Encouraging a Love for Reading

The celebration was more than just a fun dress-up day; it was part of the school's ongoing mission to foster a positive reading culture among its pupils. A spokesperson for the school expressed the importance of making reading a cozy and appealing activity, emphasizing, "It is important that children view reading as a cosy, safe and relaxing thing to do." This aligns with their goal of encouraging children to develop good reading habits, including bedtime reading, which promotes relaxation before sleep.
