Celebrating Student Success: A Wave of Achievement in Thurrock Schools
Recent events in Thurrock highlight a remarkable showcase of student talent and academic excellence at the Mossbourne Federation schools. These celebrations underscore the potential of local youth and the supportive environment created by dedicated educators.
Young Artist Shines in Mayor's Competition
A standout moment occurred when Year Six pupil Coco Nicholson of Mossbourne Herd Lane Primary Academy was awarded the title for winning the Mayor's Easter card competition. Competing against numerous entries from various schools across the borough, Coco’s creativity stood out, earning her recognition from Borough Mayor Sue Shinnick. Her design not only celebrated the holiday spirit but also became the official Easter card for the Mayor of Thurrock in 2026. During the assembly held in her honor, the Mayor presented Coco with a Smyths Toys voucher, marking a memorable occasion for the entire academy.
Outstanding Academic Performance
On another note, Mossbourne Sixth Form Thurrock has been recognized for its exceptional performance nationally and locally. The latest government Key Stage 5 performance data established it as one of the top 50 Sixth Forms in the country for student progress, positioning it within the top 5% of schools and colleges nationwide. This accomplishment is particularly noteworthy as students at the academy make half a grade more progress per subject compared to the national average.
The academy's recent success in GCSE results has set a strong foundation for these achievements, as it recorded its highest outcomes under the current grading system. With significant improvements in both attainment and progress seen in the previous year, this upward trajectory continues into A-Level studies, providing students with the opportunities necessary for their future endeavors.
Enduring Commitment to Excellence
Principal Sam Cooper has praised the hard work of both students and staff, underlining the importance of fostering high expectations in a supportive environment. Such results not only reflect individual effort but also highlight the dedication of the educational staff, who continually encourage students to strive for excellence.
As the facilities nurture high-achieving students who carry their success into further education, the Mossbourne Federation schools stand as a beacon of hope and inspiration, proving that with support and ambition, students can achieve remarkable feats.
