Bishop’s Stortford has achieved a remarkable milestone by receiving the coveted Purple Flag award at a special ceremony held in Norwich. This recognition elevates the town as the only destination in Hertfordshire to hold this accolade and places it among only 70 locations across the UK honored with this distinction.

The Purple Flag program, administered by the Association of Town Centre Management (ATCM), aims to acknowledge areas that provide a safe and vibrant evening and night-time economy. Bishop’s Stortford's success is attributed to the collaborative efforts of various local organizations, including the Bishop’s Stortford Business Improvement District (BID), town centre businesses, local councils, and community groups such as the Street Pastors. This partnership worked tirelessly to meet the stringent accreditation standards.
