Celebrating Triumph: Bradford College's Star Awards Highlight Exceptional Apprentices

On February 24th, Bradford College hosted its annual Star Awards, a magnificent celebration recognizing the achievements of apprentices who have gone above and beyond in their training. The event coincided with National Apprenticeship Week, underscoring the positive impact of vocational training and apprenticeship programs on the workforce.

A Night of Inspiration

The awards ceremony took place at the Cedar Court Hotel, where apprentices, their families, local employers, and college staff gathered to honor remarkable individuals who have shown leadership, resilience, and dedication to their craft. A highlight of the evening was the announcement of Tegan Durkin as the ‘CBRE Apprentice of the Year.’ Tegan, who is employed by The Poplars Dental Practice, was recognized for her unwavering commitment to learning and exceptional positive attitude, even in the face of personal health challenges.

Recognizing Outstanding Contributions

The event also celebrated other noteworthy apprentices such as Nida Hayat, who was awarded ‘Adult Apprentice of the Year’ while balancing her duties as a mother of two children with additional needs. In addition, Joseph Worth received the ‘Breaking Barriers’ award for his remarkable resilience in fulfilling college business needs amidst his challenges. These stories serve as testaments to the power of determination and hard work in achieving personal and professional goals.

Words of Encouragement

Alina Khan, Vice Principal for EDI & Student Experience, addressed the gathering by highlighting the importance of opportunity and skill development through apprenticeships. She asserted, “You are proof that vocational excellence drives innovation and builds the future workforce this country depends on.” This sentiment was echoed by Chris Leahy from CBRE, who delivered an inspiring message about the future potential of the apprentices, affirming their role as key players in tomorrow's workforce.

The awards are a reminder of the vital contributions made by apprentices across various industries. As we witness their successes, it is evident that programs like those at Bradford College not only uplift individuals but also enrich communities and local economies.
