Celebrating Two and a Half Decades of R.E.M.’s Reveal with Exciting New Releases!
This year, music fans are in for a treat as R.E.M. marks the 25th anniversary of their iconic album, Reveal. Originally released in 2001, this album features standout tracks such as "Imitation of Life," "All the Way to Reno (You’re Gonna Be a Star)," and "I’ll Take the Rain." To commemorate this milestone, Craft Recordings is set to release the Reveal (25th Anniversary Edition) on November 20, promising fans an expanded edition that rekindles the album's cherished memories.
A Richly Enhanced Experience
The anniversary edition will include The Black Sessions Revealed, presenting a previously unreleased 17-song performance recorded live in Paris. This addition brings a fresh layer to the listening experience, capturing R.E.M. as they alternate between new tracks and beloved classics. The set will be available as a deluxe 2-CD/Blu-ray package, showcasing R.E.M.'s evolution in sound while introducing fans to high-resolution audio and surround sound formats.
A Luminous Retrospective
Reflecting on the album, bassist Mike Mills described Reveal as "our most underrated record," highlighting its unique blend of buoyant melodies and wistful undertones. The album’s creation was marked by a search for warmth, symbolized by Stipe's journey to chase the sun during challenging writing sessions. This quest is poignantly captured in songs like "Imitation of Life," which went on to become a signature piece for the band.
The Black Sessions: A Unique Live Experience
Accompanying the anniversary release is The Black Sessions Revealed, which offers an intimate glimpse into R.E.M.’s performance just days before Reveal hit the shelves. Featuring an array of both new material and timeless tracks, this performance serves as a celebration of the band's creativity and connection with their audience. With special vinyl editions and exclusive merchandise available, fans have ample opportunity to partake in this celebratory event.
As excitement builds for the Reveal (25th Anniversary Edition), it is clear that R.E.M. continues to resonate across generations, offering timeless music that encapsulates joy and nostalgia.
