Community Comes Together as Charity Event Aims to Empower Local Women

In an uplifting display of community spirit, Sherylann Thompson is set to host a 2000s themed fundraiser in Prestwick, aimed at benefiting two vital charities: South Ayrshire Women’s Aid and Megan’s Space. This event, taking place tomorrow night, promises to not only provide entertainment but also raise necessary funds and awareness for crucial support services within the community.

Empowering Through Personal Experience

Sherylann, who has a personal connection to the charities, expressed her desire to use her platform for greater good. Having accessed support from Women’s Aid in the past, she found her way to Megan’s Space, which had a significant impact on her healing journey. “I have been an attendee at Women’s Aid twice in my life and they got me in touch with Megan’s Space. In turn they got me a therapist skilled on my type of trauma, which has helped me to understand my complex trauma,” she shared.

Encouraging Others to Shine

As part of her mission, Sherylann aims to inspire others, particularly women who have faced similar adversities. “I created activities on the night to encourage all the women who attended to show themselves the same love that they show others,” she said, reflecting her commitment to fostering a supportive community. Her social media presence, under the title "Healing, Growing, Understanding," has further enabled her to share her journey while uplifting others facing challenges like hypermobility and chronic pain.

A Night of Fun and Philanthropy

The fundraiser, which already boasts over £1,000 raised in prior efforts, is set to be a night of enjoyment, with South Ayrshire Women’s Aid and Megan’s Space participating to discuss their missions and the positive impact donations will have. “The event is a 2000s theme charity night and both charities are coming along to share their purpose,” Sherylann noted, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in charitable work.

Tickets for the event, starting at 6pm, can be reserved through email, with an expectation for a vibrant night filled with connection, celebration, and support for those in need.
