Community Spirit Shines Bright at the 524th Hereford Parkrun
In an inspiring show of community engagement and healthy competition, hundreds of runners, walkers, and volunteers came together at the Hereford Leisure Centre for the 524th Hereford parkrun. This popular free 5k event, held on June 20, attracted a total of 285 participants eager to embrace physical fitness and camaraderie.
Impressive Performances by Local Athletes
The event highlighted the competitive spirit among local athletes. Richard Lovejoy of Aldershot, Farnham & District AC sprinted his way to victory, finishing with a remarkable time of 16.25. Close on his heels were Sam Juson of Croft Ambrey RC, who finished just four seconds later, and Nathan Poolton, who secured third place with a commendable time of 17.23.
Among the female competitors, Janet Woodhead of Plettenberg Bay AC led the pack, completing the course in 21.15. Niav Fellows and Martha Bakewell followed, showcasing their impressive athleticism with times of 21.47 and 21.51, respectively.

The success of the parkrun can also be attributed to the dedicated volunteer team, comprising 18 individuals who selflessly contributed their time and energy. Volunteers like Mike Shaw, Rachel Lattey, and Em Wilkinson were essential in ensuring the event ran smoothly.
