Community Spirit Shines: Rotary Club Raises Nearly £9,000 for Local Charities

In a heartwarming display of community generosity, the Rotary Club of Manningtree Stour Valley recently hosted an event that raised a remarkable £8,750 for charities and community groups in the area. This achievement was made possible through a series of fundraising initiatives, including the Rotary Christmas Sleigh tour and the Christmas Eve collection at the Co-op.

The funds raised during the Rotary’s Christmas fundraising events were allocated to around 22 charitable organizations, further bolstering local efforts to support those in need. At a charity distribution night held at the Crown in Manningtree, representatives from various charities were delighted to learn of their funding, distributed in a unique way with secret envelopes, emphasizing the sense of community solidarity.

Among the beneficiaries was Acorn Village, which provides essential services to individuals with disabilities. Carolyne Morey from Acorn Village highlighted the transformative impact of the funding, mentioning how it allows them to create a welcoming environment. Another crucial recipient of the funds was Stourview Academy. Jayne Crowley, the head of school, pointed out how the financial assistance enables them to offer vital enrichment activities that foster a safe and supportive environment for students. The Manningtree Responders, another local group benefiting from the fundraiser, echoed this sentiment.
