This special event, dubbed Bee Lady Day, is organized in partnership between the Flemingate shopping centre and business students from East Riding College, bringing joy and support to the community while honoring a remarkable legacy.

Celebrating a Legacy

Taking place on May 13, Bee Lady Day promises to engage local residents in a day filled with community spirit and fun. The event will not only celebrate the life of Jean Bishop but will also raise much-needed funds for Age UK Hull & East Yorkshire. Jo Bridgeman, marketing and event manager for Flemingate, emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “Bee Lady Day is a wonderful way to bring our community together while celebrating the incredible legacy of Jean Bishop.”

A Learning Experience for Students

This occasion serves as a live client project for East Riding College students, allowing them to gain practical experience in event planning, marketing, and execution. Rachel Foot, employability and placement coordinator, noted the inspiring nature of the project, which gives students the chance to make a tangible impact while paying tribute to a well-known local personality.

A Day Full of Activities

With a lineup that includes face painting, themed cakes prepared by catering students, handmade items from fashion students, and live performances from music students, Bee Lady Day promises to be a vibrant family-friendly event. The theme of kindness and community action is emphasized by the bee-inspired decor, creating a lively atmosphere that is expected to “buzz” with excitement.

This free event is open to all, inviting everyone to participate, donate, and honor Jean Bishop’s memory.
