Culver High School Students Revive Community Icon with Heartwarming Restoration Effort

In a remarkable display of teamwork and community spirit, a group of dedicated students from Culver High School has rejuvenated one of their town's beloved symbols—the giant “C” on Juniper Butte. This initiative, which began as a mere class project, evolved into a meaningful effort that not only restored a landmark but also rekindled a sense of pride within the community.

The “C” has long served as a significant emblem of Culver's local heritage, representing both the school and the community's identity. Principal Scott Novelli emphasized the importance of this restoration since taking on his role in 2022, highlighting how the visibility of the “C” brings joy to residents. Under the guidance of enthusiastic juniors, students from the Sports and Entertainment Marketing and Forensic Science classes set out to complete the challenging task. They began their labor after school, hiking to the remote location to assess the conditions of the landmark. Over a month, the students manually cleared overgrowth and applied fresh coats of paint, with a commitment that exemplifies the spirit of community service.

Community Support

The restoration project also received generous backing from local businesses and community members. Contributions included essential tools from GreyFab, as well as paint donations, showcasing a united front for the shared cause. Moreover, a GoFundMe campaign organized by the newly established Culver Alumni Association helped finance the supplies, underlining the town's collaborative efforts to maintain local heritage.
