Discover the Bakery That's Winning Hearts Across the UK
In the bustling food scene of Manchester, one bakery stands out above the rest. The Pollen Bakery has recently been recognized as one of the best in the UK by the Great British Food Awards, further solidifying its reputation for quality and excellence.
A Taste of Excellence
My visit to The Pollen Bakery was nothing short of delightful. Located by the scenic canal in Ancoats, the bakery's charm is immediately evident. Even on a Thursday morning, the location was bustling with patrons eager to indulge in something special. The popularity of Pollen is well-known, often featuring long queues that stretch out the door, yet the efficient staff ensures that even during peak hours, orders are processed swiftly.
A Brunch to Remember
The brunch menu, though not extensive, caters to a variety of tastes, including meat, vegetarian, and vegan options. I chose the hash brown bun, a unique creation that featured homemade confit potato hash brown paired with roasted tomatoes, caramelised onion, watercress, and smoked onion mayonnaise—all enveloped in a vegan brioche bun. Accompanying this was a classic vanilla latte. While the hash brown bun may not have been extraordinary, the overall experience was enhanced by the inviting atmosphere and attentive service.
The Stand-Out Dessert
What truly earned Pollen its accolades was the dessert. After finishing my meal, I ventured back to try the croissant butter blondie, highlighted by the Great British Food Awards as a must-try. Taking a bite confirmed its reputation; it was a harmonious blend of flavors and textures, likely one of the best blondies I have ever tasted. This delightful treat guarantees that I will be returning to Pollen Bakery for more.
Pollen Bakery has successfully achieved the delicate balance of providing high-quality food while creating a welcoming environment for all its customers. Whether you are looking for a cozy brunch with friends or a quick pastry to-go, this bakery is well worth the visit.
