Discover the Exciting Opportunities this Positive Ageing Month!
Age Friendly Causeway is gearing up for a meaningful Positive Ageing Month this October, showcasing the vibrant contributions of older individuals for the community's benefit. The initiative is a part of the broader Age Friendly programme aimed at integrating older citizens into community life while ensuring they have access to a variety of services and opportunities.
Engaging Activities for All Ages
This year’s theme, ‘What’s on Your Doorstep?’, encourages seniors to explore and take full advantage of the resources available within their communities. With a newly created booklet focusing on events and activities throughout the month and beyond, older residents can discover ways to stay active and social, participate in intergenerational initiatives, and have their voices heard in community discussions.
A Resource for the Year-Round
More than just an October calendar, the booklet is designed to serve as a valuable resource throughout the year. It provides information on local groups, services, and various opportunities that help foster connections among community members. This approach not only enriches the lives of older residents but also strengthens the fabric of the entire community.
Community Support and Celebrations
Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Dawn Huggins, emphasizes the importance of this initiative: “Positive Ageing Month is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the contribution older people make to our Borough and to highlight the many opportunities available in our local communities.” She encourages everyone to engage with the booklet to explore what’s happening nearby.
Whether it's trying something new, getting active, or simply exploring local events, October holds a wealth of opportunities for the community’s older members to connect and thrive.
