Discover the Hidden Gems of Tendring: An Inspiring Story Walks Initiative
A new initiative is set to bring the enchanting stories of Tendring to life, inviting residents and visitors to explore the area's rich heritage and breathtaking landscapes. Launched in collaboration with Tendring District Council (TDC) and renowned storyteller James Lawrence, this campaign aims to shine a spotlight on the unique charm that the Essex Sunshine Coast has to offer.
An Engaging Discovery Experience
Starting at the end of June, the project will feature a series of engaging social media films alongside immersive guided Story Walks. This creative initiative encourages exploration of Tendring's hidden gems—places that often go unnoticed. Participants can sign up for free Story Walks beginning in July, allowing them to discover the folklore and lived experiences that define the area.
Connecting History with Nature
The Story Walks, each limited to 30 participants, will be led by James Lawrence, who emphasizes the beauty and depth of Essex, particularly Tendring. He highlights the significance of reconnecting with the land and understanding the stories that have shaped it throughout history. From ancient woodlands to stunning coastlines, these walks aim to foster a sense of pride and identity in the community, enriching participants' appreciation for their local environment.
A Boost for Local Tourism and Culture
Local council members are equally enthusiastic about the campaign's potential. Councillor Ivan Henderson recognizes how it showcases the treasures of the Essex Sunshine Coast, while Councillor Gary Scott underscores the initiative's role in raising cultural aspirations in the district. This project not only aims to promote exploration but also seeks to create memorable, enriching experiences right at the residents' doorstep.
Upcoming Story Walks are scheduled at locations including Stour Wood, Wrabness, on July 21st, the Naze at Walton-on-the-Naze on July 22nd, and Jaywick Sands on July 23rd. As the campaign unfolds, following the Essex Sunshine Coast channels will provide opportunities to watch the accompanying films and unveil further hidden gems of Tendring.
