The Rhyl Ladies Creative Writing Group is thriving and proving that creativity has no age limit. Located in a warm and welcoming environment at Gorwel Newydd independent living scheme, this ladies-only group is dedicated to encouraging its members to explore the joy of writing every week.
A Friendly Atmosphere for All
Under the guidance of organizer Frances, the group meets every Friday at 10am, where women of all ages and writing abilities come together to share ideas and build connections. One long-term member, Joan Withers, who is 90 years old, highlights the inclusive nature of the group, emphasizing that the focus is on fun and personal expression rather than skill level. "It doesn’t matter whether you are a good writer," she states, encouraging others to join and experience the enriching benefits of writing.
Weekly Inspiration and Connection
During each session, participants have the opportunity to read their work aloud if they wish, fostering an environment of shared creativity. The group also engages in a collaborative writing task, spurred by week’s inspiration from Frances. Following the writing activities, members enjoy casual conversation over refreshments, strengthening their bonds and creating a vibrant community atmosphere.

With no costs involved and a supportive ambiance, the Rhyl Ladies Creative Writing Group is extending an open invitation for new members to join. As the winter months give way to warmer days, the group will transition to the Rhyl Women’s Centre from April to November, ensuring continued accessibility for all interested participants.
