Exciting New Festival Set to Showcase Inclusivity and Talent in Liverpool
In a pioneering development for the city of Liverpool, a groundbreaking inclusive sport and culture event is scheduled to take place in May 2027. This innovative festival aims to unite international athletes and artists, celebrating the spirit of unity, sport, and creativity. The event, organized by UKEL, is part of a broader strategy by UK Sport focusing on making live sports matter while delivering a lasting social impact.
Collaborative Efforts to Highlight Diverse Talent
The festival will not only include competitive sporting events but will also provide a platform for leading disabled and neurodivergent artists to display their work, thanks to a partnership with Arts Council England. A week-long lineup featuring four international sport competitions is designed to engage audiences and participants alike, setting the stage for the upcoming LA 2028 Paralympic Games.
Empowering the Community Through Art and Sport
At the heart of the festival will be an inclusive cultural program, shaped by deaf, disabled, and neurodivergent artists. This initiative aims to showcase their creativity and unique perspectives through a series of performances, exhibitions, and collaborative experiences. By embedding such diverse artistic contributions into the event, Liverpool is poised to deliver an enriching experience that enhances representation and drives greater opportunities for the disabled community.
A Vision for the Future
To ensure the strategic delivery of this ambitious event, recruitment is now underway for a specialist Stakeholder Board. This board will comprise representatives from key institutions, including Liverpool City Council, UK Sport, Arts Council England, and Paralympics GB, along with independent members who bring valuable experience in para sport and the arts. Moreover, a Creative Producer will be tasked with driving the artistic direction, aiming for a bold and disability-led experience that intertwines sport and culture.
With the support of various funders, including UK Sport and Liverpool Accommodation BID, this event promises to not only uplift the local community but also inspire inclusivity on an international scale. Liverpool is set to be a melting pot of talent, creativity, and unity, making this festival a landmark event for all.
