Experience a New Era of Fun and Learning at the Great Yorkshire Show!

The Great Yorkshire Show is set to unveil an exciting and improved Discovery Zone at its 167th edition, taking place from July 14 to July 17. This revamped area, designed primarily for families and children, promises to connect visitors with the vital stories of farming and nature in an engaging and interactive manner.

A Journey Through Nature

This year, attendees can look forward to a beautiful wildflower walkway, crafted with seeds from Frontier Agriculture. This natural path will guide visitors through the essential role of pollinators, culminating in the Hives and Honey section, where local beekeepers showcase a diverse array of honey products. The beekeeping demonstrations will highlight the significance of pollinators, which contribute significantly to global food production.

Education Meets Enjoyment

One of the prominent newcomers to the Discovery Zone is Little Seed Oil, an organization committed to promoting sustainable agriculture and healthy soil practices. Through fun and interactive storytelling, they aim to instill a love of nature in the younger generation, helping them understand the relationship between sustainable farming and the environment.

A Range of Activities for All

Past the Discovery Zone, visitors will find a mini Fodder food hall, drystone walling, birds of prey exhibits, crafts, pedal tractors, face painting, and more. A newly dedicated gazebo will also provide a quiet space for families to relax, while a picnic area, sponsored by Nestlé, offers stunning views of the showgrounds.

Support for Schools

The York Agricultural Society's annual School Veg Box Competition has seen a remarkable increase in participation this year, with a record 31 entries. Schools are encouraged to attend the show for an educational experience, with discounted group bookings available. Furthermore, local businesses like ASDA, Co-op, and McDonald’s are stepping up to cover transportation costs for schools, making the event even more accessible.

Rachel Coates, the Show Director, emphasizes the importance of fostering a connection between young people and the land that feeds them. The Great Yorkshire Show is not just an event; it's an opportunity to celebrate British produce and the pivotal role that farmers play in our society.

This year’s event is shaping up to be an incredible blend of fun, learning, and community engagement—a must-visit for anyone in the Harrogate area!
