Experience the Thrill of Climbing: BritRock Film Tour Makes Its Debut at Durlston Castle

In an exciting development for adventure enthusiasts, Durlston Castle is set to host the BritRock Film Tour for the very first time this January. Now celebrating its twelfth year, this acclaimed event promises to showcase the best of the UK's climbing and adventure cinema, featuring a blend of epic ascents, humor, and inspiring stories.

A Night of Inspiration

Scheduled for January 27, the BritRock Film Tour will take place in Durlston Country Park, a recognized landmark in Purbeck’s climbing heritage. The film lineup includes exhilarating tales such as "Big Walls and Bedtime Stories," which follows renowned climber Leo Houlding and his family as they take on the Muir Wall on El Capitan, all while juggling home-schooling at 2,000 feet and enjoying snowball fights from their portaledge.

Highlighting Personal Journeys

Another poignant film in the tour is “Little Wings,” which chronicles Tina Breslin’s climbing year across North Yorkshire and the Lakes following her ADHD diagnosis, showcasing the power of support from her partner, Ian Henderson. This documentary not only highlights climbing feats but also emphasizes personal growth and the importance of emotional support.

Crowning Climbing Jimms

To round out the event, the audience will enjoy the 60-minute feature “Trad Stars,” which celebrates the characters, history, and dramatic landscapes of UK traditional climbing. Ross Packman, engagement ranger for Durlston Country Park, underscores the significance of the venue: "As a long-standing site for the Purbeck Film Festival and a popular climbing destination, Durlston Country Park is the perfect place to enjoy the internationally acclaimed BritRock Film Tour."

Tickets for this inspiring experience are available on the Durlston Country Park website, encouraging all adventurers and film lovers to come together for a night of awe and motivation.
