Free Bus Travel Announced for NEET Candidates: A Helping Hand for Students
In a commendable move to support aspiring medical students, Telangana's BC Welfare and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has declared free travel on Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) buses for candidates appearing in the rescheduled NEET UG 2026 examination on June 21. The announcement came after discussions with student leaders, particularly from the National Students Union of India (NSUI), who emphasized the transportation challenges faced by students from rural areas.
A Student-Centric Initiative
This decision reflects a proactive approach by the government to alleviate the financial burden on students and ensure they have access to necessary resources to participate in the examination. Many students have to travel long distances to reach the exam venues, particularly in urban areas like Hyderabad. The provision of free bus services is a vital step that underlines the importance of accessible education and support for students in their academic pursuits.
Enhancements to the NEET Examination
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has also announced several student-friendly measures for the NEET UG 2026. The exam duration has been extended by 15 minutes to accommodate necessary invigilation procedures, significantly enhancing the candidates' overall experience. Additionally, the number of rough-work pages in the question paper has increased from two to four, allowing students to make calculations and notes more conveniently during the exam.
These collective efforts signify a growing recognition of the challenges students face and aim to create a more equitable educational environment. Such initiatives not only assist students in preparing for their examinations but also cultivate a sense of support from the government, encouraging them to pursue their dreams of entering the medical field.
