This year’s Äänit Prize finalists represent a beacon of hope for Africa, showcasing the vibrant potential of young leaders dedicated to addressing the pressing issues faced across the continent. Prominent Initiatives by Young Innovators

Leading the pack is Kenyan entrepreneur Odwour Midigo, honored as the 2026 winner of the Äänit Prize with a substantial award of US$96,000. This funding will enable the expansion of the Ndaloh Heritage Organisation, which is actively combating malnutrition and food insecurity. Midigo's approach integrates regenerative agriculture and school nutrition programs to support smallholder farmers, emphasizing the crucial role of sustainable practices in promoting food security.

The award celebration does not stop with Midigo, as three other finalists from Nigeria, Zambia, and Zimbabwe bring equally significant initiatives to the forefront. Their projects aim to strengthen food security, unlock agricultural potential, reduce post-harvest losses, and leverage artificial intelligence to enhance access to quality education.
