Inspiring Generosity: Philadelphia Soirée Raises Over $500,000 for Ukrainian Initiatives

On Saturday, October 17, a momentous gathering took place at the Cathedral Hall in Philadelphia, where over 200 guests united for the second Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia's 2026 Reporting & Benefit Soirées. The theme, "Growing the Good News," encapsulated the spirit of community and hope that permeated the evening.

Community Commitment to Future Generosity

Hosted by Metropolitan Borys Gudziak, the soirée fostered a warm atmosphere of fellowship among clergy, parishioners, benefactors, and friends. Attendees seized the opportunity to engage with the Archeparchy’s goals, particularly focusing on the New Priest and Personnel Initiative aimed at supporting the vital work of Church leaders. Emphasizing shared future aspirations, the evening served not only as a celebration but also as a pivotal moment for the community's commitment to nurturing their spiritual and administrative needs.

A Milestone in Fundraising

This year, the fundraising campaign achieved a remarkable milestone, raising a total of $269,007 through a combination of individual donations, sponsorships, and the proceeds from the evening's silent auctions and raffles. An inspiring match challenge from three anonymous donors promised to match contributions up to $250,000, directed towards the Healing of Wounds of the War in Ukraine Fund. Such generosity further propelled the campaign past its goal, allowing for a cumulative impact exceeding half a million dollars.

A Cultural Celebration

The soirée not only brought together financial support but also celebrated Ukrainian culture through various events throughout the evening. Guests participated in a charitable silent auction featuring works from Ukrainian artists, including pieces from renowned institutions and artists from the Ukrainian Catholic University and our local community. The evening was enriched by live music from the Bachelor Boys Band and a delightful four-course meal catered by The Choice Restaurant, ensuring a memorable experience for all attendees.
