Local Choir Unites for a Cause: Singing to Support Mental Health

This summer, the Amesbury Community Soul Singers are set to host a charity event that promises not only to be an entertaining evening but also aims to raise vital funds and awareness for mental health issues. Scheduled for July 18, this lively event at The Bowman Centre will run from 7 PM to 11 PM, featuring a range of activities including a raffle, a disco, and the much-anticipated launch of the choir's original charity single, "Dancing in the Rain."

A Meaningful Message Through Music

The song, penned by choir director Ross Gooding during a personal struggle with mental health, serves as a beacon of hope, encouraging conversations about well-being. Gooding's personal experience fuels his passion for using music as a transformative tool in addressing mental health issues. He firmly believes that shared musical experiences can foster connections and provide support to those in need.

Community Spirit in Action

Members of the Amesbury Community Soul Singers have shared how crucial this cause is to them. Dai Tamplin, a tenor in the choir, reflected on his own journey through mental health challenges and how music played a pivotal role in his recovery. He stated, "From the moment I walked through the doors of Amesbury Community Soul Singers, I was made to feel exceptionally welcome," highlighting the inclusive and supportive atmosphere of the choir that has positively impacted many lives.
