Local Festival Set to Make a Difference: The Midsummer Beer Happening in Stonehaven

The Midsummer Beer Happening in Stonehaven is gearing up for a remarkable three-day celebration, not just of exceptional brews and culinary delights, but of community spirit and philanthropy. Scheduled from June 11 to June 13, this not-for-profit event is committed to supporting local charities, with around 20 good causes set to benefit from the festivities.

Charitable Impact

This year, the Happening aims to assist a variety of organizations, including the world-renowned Stonehaven Fireballs Ceremony, the Stonehaven Men’s Shed, and the Stonehaven Sea Cadets. The charity-driven initiative emphasizes the values of community engagement and support, which resonate deeply within Stonehaven.

Since its inaugural event in 2009, formerly known as the Stonehaven Real Ale Festival, the Happening has successfully raised £428,000 for local charities, highlighting its long-term commitment to bettering the lives of residents through community-driven efforts.

A Celebration of Culture

The festival, taking place in a newly constructed marquee in Baird Park, promises much more than just beer. It will feature more than 120 carefully curated beers from top breweries across Scotland and Belgium. Food enthusiasts can look forward to an al fresco food court, showcasing award-winning street food vendors offering an array of delicious options, from traditional fish and chips to flavorful Indian cuisine. Music will also play a pivotal role, with local musicians set to create an immersive atmosphere through genres that range from jazz to rock ‘n’ roll.

Community Collaboration

Festival manager Robert Lindsay expressed the importance of community involvement, stating, “The Happening is all about making our 6,000 visitors feel good over the weekend of the festival but also doing good for Stonehaven.” He emphasized that the event is made possible through the collective efforts of volunteers, sponsors, and attendees, all committed to making a positive impact.

As anticipation builds for the upcoming Midsummer Beer Happening, it's clear that this community celebration not only promises a weekend of enjoyment but also fortifies the local social fabric through charitable acts, creating a legacy that will benefit generations to come.
