Local Non-Profits Take Center Stage with Grant Awards

In a remarkable display of community support and recognition, three local non-profits have been awarded grants by the Black Excellence Community Fund, celebrating Black History Month. This initiative, backed by the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, highlights the important contributions of these organizations to the local Black community.

Celebrating Community Heritage

The Henry Hotel of Ocean City, the Sturgis One Room School House of Pocomoke, and the Buffalo Soldier Living History Site in Allen are the proud recipients of these grants. Each organization plays a vital role in preserving and celebrating the rich history and culture of the Black community in the region.

The Henry Hotel, with its historical significance, continues to foster a sense of belonging and cultural pride among residents and visitors alike. Meanwhile, the Sturgis One Room School House serves as a key educational site, contributing to the understanding and appreciation of the educational experiences of Black individuals in the area. Lastly, the Buffalo Soldier Living History Site provides an immersive experience into the lives of Black soldiers, ensuring their stories are told and remembered.

Encouraging Community Spirit

This initiative not only signifies financial support but also serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of uplifting local heritage and community-based organizations. As these non-profits continue their valuable work, it reinforces the notion that together, communities can build a future that appreciates and respects its past.

The efforts of the Black Excellence Community Fund and the support from local businesses like Matt the Carpet Guy exemplify how collective action can create meaningful change and inspire further contributions to worthy causes in our neighborhoods.
