Local Talent Shines as Erin Sophie-Halliday Takes the Stage in Mamma Mia!
In a heartwarming story of dreams coming true, Erin Sophie-Halliday is all set to take the stage at Norwich Theatre Royal in the hit musical Mamma Mia! starting June 30. This 22-year-old actress, who has roots in Lowestoft, is not just making her debut but is also an inspiring example of following one’s passion.
A Journey from Audience to Star
Erin’s journey began at the tender age of seven when her love for musical theatre sparked during visits to the Norwich Theatre. Watching performances ignited a desire in her to pursue a career in the arts, leading her to study professional musical theatre and dance at the University of Epson. "It all feels very surreal," says Erin, reflecting on her rise from an eager audience member to a performer in a major production.
Realizing a Dream
Auditioning for her first professional role, Erin was filled with excitement and determination. Her hard work paid off when she landed a role as a member of the ensemble and an under-study for the lead character, Sophie, in Mamma Mia! "I hope this is the start of a long career in the performing arts industry," she shared, highlighting her aspirations to inspire others to chase their dreams as well.
Making a Mark
Before her debut in Mamma Mia!, Erin has made noteworthy appearances in productions such as The Parent Agency at the Storyhouse in Chester and a pantomime at Richmond Theatre. Each role has contributed to her growth and readiness for this exciting opportunity back in her hometown.
