Solihull Council Achieves Outstanding Rating for Adult Social Care Services

Solihull Council is celebrating after being awarded a ‘good’ rating for its adult social care services by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). This recognition places the council among the top five local authorities in the country, a commendable achievement that reflects its commitment to quality service delivery.

Impressive Assessment Results

The CQC’s assessment, conducted last year with an onsite inspection in November, resulted in an overall score of 84 percent. This substantial rating comes from an evaluation based on nine quality areas, with several areas receiving an outstanding rating of 4. Such results underline the effective strategies employed by the council in supporting its community.

Community Focus and Strong Leadership

The CQC commended Solihull for its community advice hubs and the integration of local residents in connecting with underserved populations. The authority's efforts in providing support to voluntary and charity organizations were also highlighted, demonstrating a collaborative approach to community welfare. Chris Badger, the CQC chief inspector, praised the council’s leadership, noting that staff felt valued and motivated, which helped achieve positive outcomes.

A Bright Future Ahead

Councillor Tony Dicicco expressed his delight over the rating, stating it is a testament to the hard work and compassion of Solihull’s staff and leaders. This accomplishment serves as a foundation for future improvements in service quality. Jenny Wood, the director of adult social care, echoed this sentiment, recognizing the collaborative efforts across the council and its partners, which were critical to achieving this significant milestone.

With this positive recognition, Solihull Council is poised to continue its mission of enhancing support for its residents, showcasing that effective leadership and community involvement can lead to remarkable outcomes in public service.
