Solihull Council Achieves Remarkable ‘Good’ Rating in Adult Social Care

In an impressive demonstration of commitment to its community, Solihull Council has been awarded a commendable ‘good’ rating for its adult social care services by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). This recognition places Solihull among the top five local authorities in the country, marking a significant achievement for the council and its dedicated staff.

Outstanding Community Engagement

The Care Quality Commission conducted a thorough assessment of Solihull’s adult social care services last year, culminating in an onsite inspection in November. In a report published on March 18, the CQC rated the authority 84 percent, which is indicative of their effective service provision. Notably, the assessment focused on nine quality areas, with Solihull excelling in several aspects, earning high scores of ‘good’ and even a few ‘outstanding’ ratings.

Positive Impact on Local Residents

Chris Badger, the CQC’s chief inspector, praised Solihull's strong leadership and the council’s proactive approach in connecting with its communities. The council's use of community advice hubs, along with a team of local residents, has proven pivotal in reaching out to harder-to-reach communities. Such initiatives not only provide vital support but also reinforce the importance of collaboration between local authorities and their residents.

A Foundation for Continued Improvement

Councillor Tony Dicicco expressed his delight over the rating, commending the hard work and compassion of the council’s staff. He emphasized that this achievement serves as a foundation for further enhancements in service provision. The council's director of adult social care, Jenny Wood, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the kindness and dedication of the workforce as instrumental in attaining this recognition.

With the CQC looking forward to returning and observing continued progress, Solihull Council is poised to strengthen its support for individuals across the borough, ensuring that it not only meets but exceeds the expectations of its community.
