Solihull Council Celebrates Outstanding Care Rating – A Model for Excellence
Solihull Council is rejoicing in recent accolades from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which awarded its adult social care services a commendable ‘good’ rating. This rating places Solihull among the top five local authorities in the nation, showcasing a commitment to quality care and community support.
Accolades and Recognition
In a report published on March 18, the CQC highlighted Solihull’s excellent performance with an impressive score of 84 percent. This evaluation followed a thorough inspection in November, examining nine areas of service quality. Notably, three areas achieved an outstanding score of 4, reflecting the authority’s high standards in service delivery.
Community Engagement at its Best
The assessment recognized the significant role of community advice hubs, emphasizing the council's innovative approaches to connect with diverse communities. By leveraging a community development team comprised of local residents, Solihull has been successful in reaching harder-to-access populations and providing vital support. This initiative underscores the importance of collaboration between all sectors, including voluntary and charity organizations, which received necessary funding and assistance from the council.
Leadership and Vision for the Future
Chris Badger, the CQC’s chief inspector, praised Solihull’s strong leadership and strategic planning for the future, commenting on how leaders foster a culture that values and motivates staff. The report noted that such an environment ensures high-quality support for residents, with a specific highlight on the strength of services for unpaid carers.
Councillor Tony Dicicco expressed his delight at the results, attributing the success to the dedication and hard work of council staff. He emphasized that this achievement lays a solid foundation for future improvements in social care services.
Jenny Wood, director of adult social care, added that the CQC’s recognition of their compassionate and dedicated workforce reflects the multitude of positive feedback they receive from the community. This collaborative effort is pivotal in delivering exceptional care.
Overall, Solihull Council's achievements serve not only as commendable recognition but also as a beacon of hope and inspiration for other local authorities. The commitment to providing compassionate and dedicated care exemplifies what effective leadership and community engagement can accomplish in public service.
