The funding awarded is part of St. Charles' initiative to strengthen the local community by supporting essential services. With over 90 organizations applying for these grants, it’s evident that the need for support is growing. Carlos Salcedo, the manager of Community Partnerships at St. Charles, emphasized, "We are proud to provide support for many wonderful efforts and events in Central Oregon."

A Spotlight on Open Door Ministries

Among the recipients, Open Door Ministries stands out by receiving a $5,000 Basic Needs grant. This organization plays a crucial role in assisting individuals facing poverty or homelessness, offering essential services such as clothing, hygiene products, food, and financial assistance. Over 200 residents benefit from their vital programs, showcasing the powerful impact of community-focused initiatives.

The Human Element of Giving

Chuck Hemingway from Open Door Ministries expressed gratitude for the grant, stating, "We are thrilled to receive this grant. We will be good stewards of the funding and will put it to good use." Volunteer Charlotte Hartman, who has dedicated nearly 40 years to the organization, described her motivation to serve, explaining, "It makes me feel good and hopefully it touches someone's life in a positive way."
