The Big Retreat Festival Shines as a Top Contender for Independent Festival of the Year!

The Big Retreat Festival, a well-loved annual event in Pembrokeshire, has achieved the impressive milestone of being shortlisted for the Independent Festival of the Year at the UK Festival Awards 2026. This recognition not only celebrates the festival’s vibrant atmosphere but also highlights its positive impact on the local community.

This year, The Big Retreat, recognized for its feel-good ethos, is competing against five other esteemed festivals. Public voting will determine the winner, with votes accepted until November 3, and the recipient of the award to be announced on December 1. The festival's nomination comes on the heels of another significant accolade, as it was also recognized as a finalist for the Most Transformational Retreat at the Retreat Standards Organisation awards, with the results to be revealed on November 19.

Record Attendance and Expanding Horizons

The festival has seen remarkable growth, with attendance up by 42 percent in 2026, hitting its planned capacity. This surge in popularity underscores its appeal as a destination for joyful experiences. Additionally, The Big Retreat made an impressive move by launching a second festival at the Abbots Ripton Estate in Cambridgeshire, further enhancing its reach and influence.

A Multifaceted Experience

Scheduled to return from May 28 to 31, 2027, The Big Retreat Festival promises to deliver more than 500 diverse experiences, from live music and comedy to yoga and wild swimming, with around 80 percent of these activities included in the ticket price. Such variety ensures that attendees can tailor their experience to match their personal wellness journeys.
