Transforming Lives: Heartwarming Baptisms and Rescues in Haiti

Easter weekend marked a momentous occasion for Louisiana Reach Haiti (LRH) as four young residents celebrated their baptisms, signifying a profound transformation in their lives. This special service, held in conjunction with the Baptist Church of the Disciples, not only brought joy to the participants but also symbolized the culmination of years of dedicated support from LRH staff and mission teams.

A Milestone in Faith

The baptisms, which occurred on April 4, were notably the first time LRH baptized four individuals in a single service, highlighting a significant milestone for the orphan care ministry. Darrin Badon, LRH President, expressed immense gratitude for the support provided to these individuals, emphasizing the importance of their spiritual journey and the new beginnings they were embracing.

A New Hope for the Future

As these young adults, now aged 18 and having “aged out” of the Children’s Village, transition to a nearby house that will serve as New Life Academy, there is an air of optimism. This vocational school seeks to empower them with necessary skills, equipping them to become self-sufficient members of society. Badon noted the ministry's commitment not only to reunifying children with their families but also to cultivating these young adults into mature individuals prepared to face the challenges ahead.

Rescue and Recovery

In a further testament to the ministry’s impactful work, LRH rescued a 14-year-old girl from slavery the previous month. This rescue serves as a beacon of hope, illuminating the transformative power of compassion and faith. The young girl, who had endured a harrowing five years of forced labor, is now receiving the love and care she desperately needed, showcasing an inspiring turnaround from a life of bondage to one filled with opportunity.
