Founded in response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Move As One represents a coalition of 77,000 individuals across 142 citizen groups. The coalition emerged from the urgent need for improved public transit in Manila when the lockdowns revealed just how vital transportation is for the city's 1.9 million residents. The coalition's efforts have been pivotal in advocating for essential changes that prioritize the needs of all citizens, particularly those who do not rely on cars.
Transformative Investments in Public Transit
Over the past six years, the Move As One Coalition has influenced decisions related to approximately $946 million in immediate transport funding, with an additional $12 billion earmarked for future projects. Their relentless advocacy has led to the redirection of funds towards creating pedestrian-friendly spaces, including a pedestrian boulevard along the Pasig River and a car-free zone in Manila’s historic district of Intramuros.
