The Junior Good Citizen (JGC) initiative is making waves in the community, significantly enhancing the safety knowledge of nearly 3,800 young people across Swindon and Wiltshire as they prepare for the transition to secondary school. Throughout June 2026, this vital program, led by Wiltshire Police's Youth and Early Intervention Team, partners with local organizations to equip children with essential life skills and awareness on a variety of crucial topics.

The program included interactive sessions attended by over 2,200 children from 47 schools in Swindon, covering crucial themes such as internet safety, hate crime awareness, and healthy relationships. In Wiltshire, 1,615 children from 59 schools engaged in sessions that addressed topics from drugs and alcohol awareness to personal safety advice.
