UK Plant-Based Company THIS™ Shatters Sales Records, Ushering in a New Era for Vegan Products
In an impressive display of resilience and innovation, UK plant-based food manufacturer THIS™ has achieved remarkable retail performance, with a staggering 43.3% increase in unit sales over the last four weeks. This tremendous growth stands in stark contrast to the broader market, where the plant-based category exhibited only a modest growth of 0.5% during the same period.
A Leading Force in the Chilled Plant-Based Market
Over the past twelve weeks, THIS™ has accomplished a commendable 25% growth in value, contributing an extraordinary £1 million in incremental sales. This growth is particularly noteworthy given that the chilled meat-free sector has faced significant challenges, with many competitors struggling to keep pace amid inflationary pressures and growing consumer scrutiny of ultra-processed foods.
Nick Ball, Commercial Director at THIS™, expressed pride in the company's ability to surpass competitors and invigorate the category. He stated, "We’re incredibly proud to be outperforming the category so significantly and, more importantly, helping to bring it back into growth." These strong numbers indicate a renewed appetite for plant-based options, especially when consumers are offered quality products.
Innovative Partnerships and Future Prospects
This exciting growth trajectory is further complemented by THIS™'s recent partnership with Dutch food tech firm Rival Foods, aimed at launching a new plant-based fillet steak, which is regarded as a significant milestone for the company. As Ball noted, the latest figures not only indicate a rebound in sales across the category but also highlight THIS™'s pivotal role in this resurgence.
With major retail partnerships in hand, including with Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, and Waitrose, the future looks bright for THIS™. Their ability to drive both value and volume growth positions them as a leader in the plant-based market, paving the way for further developments and consumer engagement in the coming months.
