The International Women’s Day Celebration at the Havering Asian and Social Welfare Association (HASWA) on March 4 was a resounding success, distinguishing itself as the best yet. Under the exceptional leadership of Manjit, the women of HASWA organized a remarkable event that brought the community together in a spirit of joy and camaraderie.

The event commenced with motivating speeches from Neighbourhoods Superintendent Sharon Brind and Dr. Maheen Shahid. Superintendent Brind shared anecdotes from her career, fostering a sense of aspiration among attendees. Dr. Shahid passionately discussed initiatives aimed at improving health within the community, setting an uplifting tone for the day that resonated well with everyone present.

Councillor Stephanie Nunn guided guests through an engaging quiz about International Women’s Day, enhancing the vibrant atmosphere with laughter and friendly competition. The celebration continued after a delightful lunch with a lively dance display led by Sonia, which blossomed into an animated dance workshop. Notably, Mayor Cllr Sue Ospreay joined in, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone was encouraged to participate.
