Unlocking Health and Happiness: A New Outdoor Wellbeing Festival in Knutsford

Residents of Knutsford and Northwich are gearing up for a unique outdoor wellbeing festival promising a day filled with music, learning, and inspiration. This exciting event seeks to engage the community while also addressing vital issues related to brain health and wellbeing, particularly in light of the challenges posed by Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.

A Purpose-Driven Initiative

The festival is spearheaded by GP Claire Milton and teacher Vic Massey, both motivated by personal experiences with Alzheimer’s in their families. While Claire cares for her mother, Vic tragically lost her mother, Margaret, to early-onset dementia. In Margaret’s honor, their families have already raised over £10,000 for Alzheimer’s charities through various fundraising efforts.

“This time, we wanted to do something different,” Vic shared, emphasizing not just raising funds for research but also fostering open discussions about brain health. “We want to give people access to good, evidence-based information about things we can all do to look after our brains,” she elaborated.

An Event for Everyone

The Health Edit will take place at Booths Park in Knutsford on Saturday, September 19, and features a host of engaging activities for all ages. Local fitness instructors, wellbeing practitioners, expert speakers, and musicians will come together to ensure a festive atmosphere throughout the day. A highlight will be a virtual talk from Dr. Tommy Wood, author of The Stimulated Mind, who will address dementia prevention followed by a Q&A session.

Wellbeing and Community Engagement

The festival is designed to celebrate the power of small lifestyle changes that can contribute to long-term health and wellbeing. The two large tipis set up at the event will focus respectively on relaxation through sound baths, yoga, and reiki, as well as educational talks on various topics ranging from nutrition and exercise to sleep and menopause.

The family-friendly schedule promises to keep the whole community engaged, with a mix of adult-focused sessions in the morning and family activities in the afternoon, culminating in an evening celebration featuring drinks and a DJ.

Tickets are now available for various sessions, making it easy for everyone to find their place in this initiative aimed at enhancing community wellbeing and awareness. For more details on ticket options and bookings, visit here.
